Cycloponics is a startup specialized in the transformation and reconversion of unused urban underground spaces. These urban structures, such as car parks, represent a real untapped potential, and are rehabilitated to house organic food production areas (micro sprouts, mushrooms or endives), or work hubs dedicated to local or sustainable economic actors. Founded in 2012, the startup began its activities in Strasbourg by opening its first space called the "Bunker Comestible". It is now also present in Paris where it operates a production site in the 18th arrondissement, called "La Caverne". In addition to producing healthy, organic and quality food as close as possible to consumers, Cycloponics is committed to a very strong local integration approach by hiring people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods where their spaces are located. In collaboration with these actors, Cycloponics not only harvests food but revamps and monetizes unoccupied places.

Rethinking our use of space to generate positive impact inspires you? Then invest in Cycloponics!

According to legend, Jean-Noël GERTZ and Théo CHAMPAGNAT met in 2016 in an underground car park. Together, they founded Cycloponics. A trained thermal engineer, Jean-Noël previously worked in the associative sector, notably as treasurer of a Fablab in Strasbourg. He also accumulated extensive experience in urban agriculture before founding Cyclopnics, of which he is now President. Théophile was a professional cook before embarking on a world bike trip. After which he taught himself organic farming, then trained as an agricultural engineer in Holland. He is now CTO of Cycloponics.
