Founded in 2013, Ciel & Terre International (CTI) is positioned as a global expert in the design, production and installation of floating photovoltaic (PV) power plants. With this innovative and modular solution, CTI offers an ecological alternative to ground-based solar power plants. Often installed on natural land areas, the latter can be a source of deforestation and cause conflicts of use, as these lands can be used for agriculture for example. These terrestrial solar farms can also lead to soil artificialisation with a negative impact on biodiversity. In addition to avoiding these externalities, CTI's innovation preserves the biodiversity of water bodies by reducing the phenomena of water heating and evaporation, which are detrimental to aquatic life. To this end, the company has two divisions: Hydrelio (launched in 2013), an equipment manufacturer of floating PV structures for solar farms, and Laketricity (launched in 2019), a project developer (design, engineering, construction and maintenance). With 230 solar farms installed around the world (from Europe to Japan and the United States), CTI achieved a turnover of €40 million in 2020. With the LITA.co fundraising, the company wishes to accelerate its development on high potential markets such as the United States and Europe, and to finance the product R&D strategy to maximize its impact.
